We Take the Sting Out of Apprentice Training.

Who We Are

Pest Pro Academy is an innovative online training program that provides high quality apprentice education to pest management companies. Our curriculum includes over 50 hours of courses and provides a strong basic knowledge base for technicians. Designed by leaders in the pest control industry, our program meets the Verifiable Training Component requirements of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s Structural Pest Control Licensing program. When your apprentices finish our program, they will receive verifiable certificates showing that they have completed this portion of the training required to become a Texas Structural Pest Apprentice. What We Do

We provide easy-to-understand, convenient online courses that may be completed by your Apprentice Technicians anytime, from anywhere. This frees up your time to focus on daily pest management, as well as on-the-job training, instead of scheduling or facilitating apprentice classroom training. Our online courses are more affordable than traditional face-to-face training. They are also more flexible, since they don’t require apprentices to be in a specific place at a specific time. Instead, they can complete training during times that work best with their schedules. Apprentices can start when they are ready, save progress as they go along, and move through the coursework at their own pace.

Make apprentice training easy.

How It Works

Pest Pro Academy enrollment is available on an annual subscription basis, with pricing based on the total number of apprentices who are enrolled in the program.

1. Click “Enroll.”

When you enroll in our program, you will receive full course access within 48 business hours, so your apprentices can begin training right away.

2. Log in.

Each apprentice will receive a unique username and password, allowing them to log into the program, begin coursework, and track their progress as they complete each module. Managers receive complimentary administrative accounts, which can be used to monitor apprentice progress, print and e-mail completion certificates, and more.

3. Start Learning.

Our online program includes interactive components and games to make content more interesting, test apprentices’ knowledge, and make it easier to remember the information learned. Each module includes a test, which apprentices can re-take once if they don’t get answers correct the first time. If they fail the second test, they will be required to re-take the course—however, there is no additional cost to do so. Apprentices can return to completed courses at any time, to review information.

4. Receive Certificates of Completion.

Once apprentices complete the program, they will receive a printable certificate verifying their completion of all classroom training required by the State of Texas.

Our Story

Pest Pro Academy was founded in 2013—but our experience in pest management goes back much further. Pest Pro Academy President, Tom Wright, is an Associate Certified Entomologist with over 40 years of experience in pest management. Before creating Pest Pro Academy, Tom owned B&G Chemicals & Equipment Co., Inc., a pest control product distribution company, and regularly provided training to pest control companies across the state of Texas. As a certified trainer for the state of Texas, he understands the industry from the inside out. In 2010, Tom and his wife, Bonnie, sold B&G Chemicals—but their work in pest management continued.

After decades working in pest management, Tom saw the need for an online pest management training system that would help small and medium-sized pest control businesses train their staff.

Through the years, he had listened to many business owners who were frustrated because they could not mold their companies to meet their goals. He knew he could offer one piece of the puzzle: world-class training that allows service managers to focus their time on developing

their team and measuring results. Tom used his industry knowledge and experience to develop the curriculum for the Pest Pro Academy program. His goal was to give pest control company owners a tool to make training easier and more streamlined, and to ensure all entry-level apprentices were well-educated in the basics of pest control. Ensuring safety, avoiding legal hassles, and maintaining compliance are key to protecting a company’s reputation—and the Pest Pro Academy program is designed to meet all of these objectives.

Working with professional writers and software developers, Tom and Bonnie developed Pest Pro Academy, one of the first online pest management training programs in the U.S. It is also the first online pest management training that gives managers administrative access into what their people are learning. Before Pest Pro Academy, only big corporate pest management companies had the ability to provide their own online training. Now, companies of any size can save time and money, and achieve success through exceptional apprentice training.
